Parental Alcoholism and Alcohol Use of Children of Alcoholics -Focusing on the Moderating Effect of parent Attachment and Violence Experience-

Abstract
Children of alcoholics are the population most at-risk for becoming alcoholics and exhibiting other indicators of poor psychosocial problems. The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effects of parent attachment and violence experience on the relations between parent¡¯s problem drinking and alcohol use in adolescence. A total of 704 samples are collected from 5-6 grade in elementary school and 1-3 grade middle school students in Jeonbuk province. Collected data are analyzed by moderated multiple regression. Result Showed that the group of COAs showed more higher violence experience, alcohol use and lower father attachment than the group of non-COAs. Parent attachment and violence experience moderated the relationship between problem drinking of parents and alcohol use of children of alcoholics. Based on these findings, the research discussion reinforce the importance of parent-child relationship, family environment and suggest intervention program.
